The monetary unit was the Salvadoran Colon, but since January 2001 up to date the Dollar of the United States of America is the monetary of legal tender in El Salvador. (1 USD = 8.75 Colones)  

Rate of inflation:  5.5%. Real Rate of Growth: 1.4%. Income per inhabitant: US$ 174.24. The main export products are: coffee, pharmaceutical products, sugar, cotton, and cardboard boxes. 

The expectations of economic growing for 2009 is 2.5%
